01 / Services

Language services with a human eye

English and Spanish to French translation

Translation consists of conveying the meaning of a text in all its nuance from the source language into the target language, as if it was written in that language.

English and Spanish to French proofreading

Proofreading consists of reviewing the translated text against the source to make sure all the content is present and the meaning is faithfully rendered in the target.

Machine translation post-editing (MTPE)

In recent years, technology has made huge progress, and translation work is shifting towards machine translation post-editing. In this process, AI or other software produces a first draft that a human translator then reviews.

02 / HOW I WORK

Methodology

Translation work involves doing rigorous terminological research to find the correct wording to use for a particular sector or client. I build my own glossaries or follow in-house style and term guides for each project or client to make sure preferences are followed and consistency is ensured. Project after project and building on feedback, I will keep track of choices and decisions to make sure they are implemented and ensure homogeneity across texts.

I have been using SDL Trados during my whole career as a CAT (computer assisted translation) software to build and leverage translation memories.

On large projects that require several translators, I work in close collaboration with a network of trusted colleagues to ensure we are on the same page.

03 / About me

Human at heart, technology savvy

I was born in Geneva, Switzerland. After obtaining my Master’s degree in translation from English and Spanish to French from the School of Translation and Interpretation (ETI) of the University of Geneva, I completed an internship as a translator in England and volunteered for the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. Eager to discover new cultures and live in a warmer climate, I crossed the Atlantic to live and work in the Dominican Republic.

I took my first steps as a professional translator in 2000 in an American translation agency, when the tech startup wave was at its peak.
